SURPRISE!!

So for about a week, Dave has been torturing me as he danced around saying, "I have a surprise for you, I'm so excited it's so cool." If you know me at all, you know how I hate not knowing things, and the minute I know that there is something that I don't know I have a great internal need to know it.  I spent days trying to force it out of Dave, but unfortunately he is much more strong willed than I am.  On Friday morning I convinced him into playing a game of 20 question with me. By the fourth question I had it!  We were going to a Suns game.  I couldn't get him to tell me where we were sitting though, but I had a feeling that it was good.

Saturday night we headed off to the US Airways arena and to my great surprise we were in the third row!  It was so incredibly cool!  Way, way better than TV.  We got there early enough to catch the end of warm ups and Diaw was still hanging around practicing his shot.  Dave and I were so excited, and couldn't get over the fact of how close we were, when Diaw walked over to were we were sitting and starting signing autographs.  Without hesitation, I grab the Suns hat, that we just happened to bring, and ran down to join the crowd around Diaw.  Because we hadn't thought for a second that we might have an opportunity get an autograph I had no pen.  As I stood there holding my hat out not know what to do if he grab it and I had nothing to give him I hoped for a miracle, and it came.  Just when I thought he was moving passed me in the crowd he turned around held on to someone else’s pen and signed my hat!  As you can imagine I was beaming from ear to ear.

This was definitely the highlight of the night, especially because we ended up losing.  But that hardly mattered with the view we had.  We were able to see several great dunks and many amazing passes by Nash.  It was a great night, and probably one of the best surprises I have ever had.

Oh No!

I am very distressed! I went to Micheal's the other day to registar from my Wilton Course II cake class when I realized it had been moved to Tuesday nights!  No big deal right? Wrong! That's when soccer is. What am I going to do? I've been waiting for months to take course two, and it will be months before it will be offered again.  I've really been missing not having a class this month and now it seems that it must continue this way. Oh dear, what am I going to do? Not to mention without my cake classes I have nothing to blog about.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Yeah, I know I'm a little behind but I just finished Harry Potter 7 on Saturday night, and now I need to vent. It's been driving me crazy ever since!

WARNING IF YOU DON'T WANT THE ENDING SPOILED DON'T READ ON.

Why the heck didn't Harry Potter die?! Not that I wanted him to, and I knew from the moment it was said that he had to die that some how JKR would get him out of it, but her method of doing so was thoroughly confusing.  The whole blood thing sounds so made up (and yes I realize the whole thing is made up.) Due to the fact that it is made up it's like she can just make up whatever she wants whenever she wants and we are suppose to buy it.  It's like a bunch of 8 year old boys playing aliens and superheroes, "my cold lava drowned your super-de-duper force field and now nothing can stop me!" "Oh yeah, well my fire shark just killed your cold lava!" I mean seriously, LV having a bit of Harry blood so suddenly he is invincible?! How does that work? But then Harry can kill LV , when did their blood change? And why the heck was there a baby at Kings Cross?

And I must say, the whole 19 years later part was a little silly, and a little too perfect/ happily ever after didn't you think. Albus Severus...come on.

Oh, and one more thing that has always bugged me, what are witches and wizards doing celebrating Christmas and Easter? I get Halloween, but aren't the other two Christian holidays? Since when is the wizard world Christian? Why do they have God Fathers!?

Short Stories

So, not only did my boss think I was pregnant (FYI she is not), but she also didn't think I was a very good employee so she called me on Labor, out of the blue, and told me that she was terminating my employment.  After, the initial shock I decided I was better off becauseI didn't like that job any way. I am back working at Kid's Corner until I can find a full time job (which is a huge blessing) If you know of anyone hiring let me know.

Loosing my job was not such a bad thing because it enabled me to spend a much needed 3 days decorating my final cake for my class.

A Kind of funny, kind of scary story. Last Saturday I decided to go to the gym in the morning and work out. I was doing just fine when I felt a little light headed. I paused for a minute waiting for the sensation to go away and when it didn't I headed for the drinking fountain and the bathroom. Inside the bathroom  I callasped on a bench and cried to the lady beside it "I think I'm going to faint." I sat up and she said, "I'll go get you some water." As she exited a large African women in a bright print moomu said, "honey, are you alright?" I told her how I felt and just stood there and then things got bad real fast. I could feel all blood draining from my head, I saw in the mirror that my complection was going very gray, as I struggled to make the feeling pass I noticed that she had placed her hand on my shoulder and was muttering Jesus, Jesus, Oh Jesus. Much to the hilarity of this I did not begin to feel any better and my eyes started roll and I was going fast. She asked me, "what do you need?" I couldn't even talk and I just made a drinking motion to her. She went running out of the bathroom and yelled, "we need water in here quick!" She ran back in and put her hand on me once again saying, "Jesus, Oh Jesus. Touch this child Jesus." Before I knew it a waterbottle was being shoved at me and the whole office staff was standing infront of me. I ended up being just fine and now know not to go to the gym on an empty stomache.

Dave was out of town this last weekend and with new couches on the way I decided to start painting our familyroom. On Saturday my Dad came over and helped me pime it. I now feel like I am living in an empty swimming pool, the was are so bare and white.  If you would like to stop by and vote on your favorite paint color, you are more than welcome...I'm home all day.

Look forward to before and after pictures.

Go D-backs!

This last Friday night my work got tickets for the Diamondsbacks game.  Dave and I were able to go and we got to sit at the TGI Friday's to watch the game.  It was so much fun to sit at a resturant and be served dinner while you watch a major league baseball game.  As this was my first outing with the people I work with, I got my first view of them outside the office. Boy are they a roudy bunch, must of it had to do with all the alcohol they were drinking.  O and aparrently I am always tired at work because I am pregnant, so my drunk boss informed me, but I believe the word she use was "over tired."

Check out my latest cake!

City Champs!

Our game went great on Tuesday. We we're tied at the end of regular play (b/c the dumb refs couldn't tell that the guy was offside when he scored) so we went into overtime.  With about fourty seconds left in overtime our right foward crossed the ball infront of the goal and was finished off by one of our midfielders.  I told you it would be a great game.  We are now the city champions and are looking forward to a repeat in the fall. :)

I just finished my second fondant cake, and despite a small accident in my car it still turned out alright. As promised here are a couple pictures.

No Good at Bloging

I've now had my blog page for about a month and as I suspected I haven't written at all.  I knew I wasn't going to be very good at this.  But I'm going to try to do better. There is a lot to tell about since it's been so long since my last post. I'll give you the sweet and condensed version.

I made my first fondant cake two weeks ago. It was so fun and surprisingly not too difficult.  And it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. Check out the picture.

Last weekend we went up to Park City, Utah with the Drain's and all of my mom's side of the family.  We got to stay in my grandmother's time share right at the base of the mountain.  It was so great to get out of the heat and spend some relaxing time with family in the mountains. While we were there we went to Olympic Park and road a 1500 zip line. For those of you who don't know what a zip line is (because I didn't) it is a cable attached from the top of the mountain to the bottom and you sit in a harness with you legs dangling hundreds of feet above the ground and then you fly down the mountain.  It was so cool and I'll admit, I was a bit of a chicken and feeling a little nervous before we took off, but it was totally worth. If you ever have the opportunity I highly recommend it.

My favorite part of our trip was riding the Alpine Coaster.  An alpine coaster is similar to an alpine slide but way more fun. Instead of being loose on a track your cart is attached to the steal track.  This enables you to go much faster and take much faster turns and bumps.  Dave and I rode in the same cart and were probably going about 45 MPH it was so fun!

I have neglected to mention so far that I am playing on a city co-ed soccer team, and I only mention it now because we are in the championship game this Tuesday night (no thanks to me, b/c I missed the last game) and it's kind of exciting. So, if you are sitting home board on Tuesday night, about 7 o'clock head on down to Red Mountain park for a guaranteed intense soccer match.

Well I guess that’s all for now and I will try to do better in the future about writing more consistently.  Check back soon my next fondant cake will be done this week and I’ll be sure to put a picture up.

ACE OF CAKES

Have you ever watched that show of Food Network called Ace of Cakes? Well pretty much the coolest show on food Network, next to Iron Chef America, (yes, I watch Food Network and you should too.) Anyway, Ace of Cakes is this really cool show where they make the coolest cakes you have ever seen. The coolest cakes they make are usually replacas of something like a firetruck or a pet dog. So after many weeks of watching the show and going to Micheal's and looking at their cake decorating classes they offer I decided to do it and start a new hobby. I have now finished the first Wilton cake course and while my cakes are far from perfect I think it is a ton of fun! In two weeks I will learn how to roll fondont.

First Blog Entry

So a lot of people have been telling me that I needed to try this blog thing out and get one started for Dave and I. So tongiht I said, "What the heck, I'm bored, why don't I give it a whirl." Here is goes...Yeah I already have nothing to write about which is why I didn't want to do this because basically Dave and I's lives are exciting to no one but ourselves and even that's a lie at times. Tomorrow will be my fist day at my new job at PrimeStaff. It is the first desk job of my life...wish me luck.
